Sevilla and Valencia players jailed over assault
A court in eastern Valencia has sentenced Spanish footballer Rafa Mir to eight and a half years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault on another woman, as well as involvement in an assault that followed a meeting at Mir's house after a night out at a nightclub. The court also sentenced a friend of his to two and a half years in prison on charges of sexual assault and defamation, and ordered the victim to be compensated with €64,000. Mir, who currently plays for Elche Club de Fútbol, was arrested in September 2024 following a complaint from a woman accusing him of sexual assault, based on evidence and testimonies.
