Riyadh starts conjoined twins surgery

The separation of conjoined Filipino twins, Olivia and Gianna, was successfully performed at King Abdulaziz Specialist Children's Hospital in Riyadh by a specialized Saudi medical team. The two-year-old and two-month-old twins were joined at the chest and abdomen, sharing the liver and possibly the intestines, with one of them also having a congenital heart defect. The procedure took approximately eight hours and involved 22 consultants, with a success rate exceeding 70%. This operation is the fourth within the Saudi program for treating conjoined twins, which has carried out a total of 72 surgeries on around 158 twins from 28 countries.
