Innovative method to lower knee inflammation
A German study has developed a new method to relieve knee joint pain and inflammation using a gelatine-based substance. The procedure involves injecting into abnormal blood vessels that accumulate around the joint, with the aim of sealing them off using a fine catheter. The results showed that this technique, known as genicular artery embolization, significantly reduced pain, with pain scores dropping from 7 to 3 over the course of a year. There was also an improvement in joint function and quality of life after 12 months. This treatment offers a non-surgical alternative for cases where traditional therapies do not provide adequate relief.
