China sees steady railway freight growth (Jan-May)

China recorded steady growth in rail freight volume during the first five months of 2026, reaching 1.67 billion tons, an increase of 1.8% compared to the previous year. Freight services between China, Europe, and Asia also saw a 12.6% rise, with 9,331 journeys completed between China and Europe, an increase of 21%.
