Israeli students show low reading and math scores

OECD data revealed that the levels of reading, writing, and arithmetic among university students in Israel are below the average of member countries. A group of students under the age of 35 was assessed, and the results showed that 22% of them exhibited mathematical understanding no better than that of a ten-year-old child, while 20% showed no progress in reading and writing skills. These figures are double the rates in OECD countries, which stand at 8% and 7%, respectively. The results also indicate that Israeli students recorded the worst scores among 16 out of 38 countries in mathematics, and the second worst in reading and writing.
