China is seeking to expand its extraction of strategic minerals from seawater. A report from the Ministry of Natural Resources revealed successful extraction of several kilograms of uranium from ocean environments, along with breakthroughs in technologies for extracting lithium, uranium, and other trace elements. The estimated uranium reserves in seawater amount to approximately 4.5 billion tons, more than a thousand times the known terrestrial reserves. Meanwhile, the seawater desalination sector and related industrial applications continue to grow steadily across the country.
