Coldcard wallet attack leaks 89M BTC

Scammers exploited a software vulnerability in certain Coldcard hardware wallets, allowing attackers to steal nearly $70 million worth of bitcoin from approximately 1,200 wallets in 41 minutes. The flaw involved predictable recovery phrases generated by affected firmware, which enabled hackers to access funds without physical contact with the wallets. Coinkite, the manufacturer, released a software update and advised users to create new recovery phrases and transfer their bitcoin to secure wallets to prevent further thefts.
