California students face criticism over blackface photo

Four high school girls in California posted a racially charged meme involving blackface on social media, which has prompted school and district officials to respond. The students, from San Marcos High School, darkened their skin to mimic an AI-generated image of Black boys and captioned the post with a reference linked to racial slurs. The school has addressed the incident, issued consequences, and is working to educate the students about the harmful impact of their actions, while district officials emphasized the need for ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive school environment.
