Mayor seeks ban on Cornell event permits

The mayor of Ithaca has called for a ban on student event permits at Cornell University following allegations of gang rape by fraternity members. The lawsuit, filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe, alleges she was assaulted nearly two years ago, and the university has faced criticism for its response. The city council must approve a moratorium, with support from some members, while investigations and external reviews into campus safety and university protocols are underway.
