Expert warns drugs may risk brain health
Experts warn that the use of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy, which are rapidly gaining popularity, could pose risks to brain health if severe caloric restriction leads to insufficient energy and nutrient intake. While these medications can offer metabolic benefits, prolonged extreme dieting may cause the brain to consume its own tissue due to energy depletion. To protect brain function during weight loss, researchers recommend combining resistance training with adequate intake of essential neuro-nutrients such as B vitamins, vitamin D, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids.
