Lucas Museum limits access to courtyard

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art’s public plaza is now enclosed by fences and security checkpoints, limiting access to the space that was designed to serve as an open civic area. Despite initial intentions for a welcoming, porous environment, security concerns have led to barriers that restrict free entry, transforming the plaza into a gated space. This change raises questions about balancing safety with the museum’s mission to serve the public and maintain an inclusive, accessible atmosphere.
