Ohio gas tax suspended today

Ohio has suspended its gas tax for 90 days, beginning October 4, in a politically motivated move aimed at benefiting the Republican candidate for governor. Despite claims of significant savings at the pump, experts warn that prices are unlikely to drop considerably because wholesalers, who hold inventory purchased before the suspension, will limit price reductions. The measure uses nearly $725 million in state funds and is viewed by critics as a short-term political gimmick rather than a genuine relief for consumers.
