Trump issues order to reduce diesel costs

President Donald Trump signed an executive order to temporarily allow the sale of tax-free, red-dyed diesel for on-road use to help reduce the surge in diesel prices. This measure aims to lower costs for truckers and farmers amid a record increase in fuel prices caused by disruptions from war, refinery damages, and export restrictions. The order also directs officials to explore options to eliminate deferred taxes on dyed diesel and encourages states to adopt similar policies. While the move may offer short-term relief, experts note it does not address the underlying global refinery shortages impacting fuel prices.
