Israeli Lawyer Links UNRWA to Hamas

A legal case has been filed against UNRWA by the family of Yonatan Samerano, a victim of the October 7, 2023, attack in Gaza, who was reportedly kidnapped and taken to Gaza by UNRWA workers after being murdered by terrorists. The Israeli government has stripped UNRWA of its diplomatic immunity, enabling the family to seek nearly $8 million in damages under Israeli law. While the U.N. maintains its support for UNRWA, critics argue the agency has facilitated infiltration by Hamas and serves as a threat to stability in Gaza, leading several countries to cease funding and casting doubt on UNRWA’s future role in the region.
