City officials worry about Champions League spot

Senior figures in English and European football are concerned that Manchester City could participate in the Champions League next season even if they are relegated from the Premier League due to breaches of financial regulations. The issue centers on City potentially winning the Champions League, which would grant them qualification regardless of their domestic league status, as there is no automatic mechanism to remove them based solely on sanctions. The club denies wrongdoing, and while their appeal is pending, the outcome could lead to severe sanctions such as points deductions or bans, but complexities remain around Licenses and disciplinary processes.
