Schumer and Jeffries avoid Mamdani controversy

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani defended his statement accusing Israel of conducting a "genocide" in Gaza following the October 7 attack. He criticized Israel’s actions over the past three years, claiming it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians, including children, and condemned ongoing violence and blockades. Mamdani’s remarks drew criticism from some local politicians, but prominent Democratic leaders, including Senators Schumer and Jeffries, did not respond directly to his comments.
