Trump Attempts to Remove Fed's Lisa Cook

President Donald Trump is pursuing efforts to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook by establishing a committee of his appointees to investigate allegations related to her mortgage statements. The White House announced the investigation and scheduled a hearing at the White House, citing procedural issues following a Supreme Court ruling that initially blocked her removal. Cook’s attorneys have expressed hope that the process will allow her to clear her name, while analysts see this as part of Trump’s broader attempts to influence the Federal Reserve ahead of upcoming policy meetings.
