L.A. nonprofit CEO in Hawaii with luxury apartment

A Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting domestic violence victims paid for a luxury Santa Monica apartment and leased a BMW for its Hawaii-based CEO, despite her residing in Hawaii for over a decade with no organization services there. The nonprofit’s board approved these expenses, which included a $6,500 monthly apartment and vehicle-related costs, raising questions about misuse of funds. The CEO also received a total of $1.6 million in compensation over two years, including a large payout of unused vacation days, with some concerns about oversight and the organization’s expenditure of taxpayer money.
