CVS Pharmacy settles for 315M over prescriptions

CVS has agreed to pay $315 million to settle allegations by the Justice Department that it illegally filled opioid and controlled substance prescriptions between 2013 and 2025. The DOJ accused CVS of dispensing excessive quantities, early refills, and dangerous combinations, often from unverified prescribers, with many prescriptions billed to federal health programs. As part of the settlement, CVS will implement measures to improve monitoring and reporting of suspected illegal dispensing activities.
