California school protests over blondes photo
High school students in Santa Barbara walked out of class to protest the district’s handling of a racist social media post involving blackface. The incident involved San Marcos High School students artificially darkening their skin in a TikTok video and posting a meme using a ninja emoji, which is associated with the N-word. Parents and students criticized the district for delayed notification and insufficient action while calling for accountability and clearer policies to address racial incidents.
