Trump suspends several Russian sanctions

President Trump has used his authority to block several Russia sanctions passed by Congress, citing national interests, just days before the sanctions are set to take effect. The legislation aimed to penalize Russia for its war on Ukraine and included measures against Russian officials, banks, and the Shadow fleet, as well as tariffs on top Russian oil and gas buyers. Despite signing the bill, Trump’s decision to waive certain sanctions and his plan to import Russian diesel have drawn bipartisan criticism and concerns over aiding Russia’s war efforts.
