East San Fernando Valley light rail begins after delays
Construction will begin this week on a 6.7-mile light rail line from Van Nuys to Pacoima in Los Angeles, with service projected to start in 2032. The nearly $4-billion project, featuring 11 stations along Van Nuys Boulevard, is significantly over budget and delayed from its initial schedule, which aimed for completion in 2027. The line will reconnect the San Fernando Valley to rail transit for the first time in over 70 years, aiming to improve mobility and economic opportunities for local communities.
