California dead trees disposal revealed

Forest advocates suspect that trees killed in a wildfire are being processed into wood chips and burned for biomass energy, which they argue is more polluting than coal and not truly renewable. A wildlife biologist tracked trucks in California to verify the destination of these trees, discovering some are used for purposes like landscaping or wastewater treatment rather than biomass power. Industry claims that the process is sustainable, but environmentalists contend it harms ecosystems and delays forest recovery. Despite efforts to monitor and challenge these practices, evidence remains inconclusive, and new legislation aims to support biomass energy despite ongoing environmental concerns.
