Pentagon approves DHS border heat ray test

The Pentagon has authorized the Department of Homeland Security to test a military-grade heat ray, known as the Active Denial System, for potential use at the US-Mexico border. The nondestructive weapon emits electromagnetic beams that cause a burning sensation, intended to discourage illegal crossings or crowd control, although its deployment has not yet been specified. Past discussions considered its use in border enforcement and during domestic unrest, but concerns over legality, safety, and treatment of migrants have hindered its adoption.
