Tharwat Explains Festival Withdrawal
Artist Mohamed Tharwat issued a statement explaining the reasons behind his apology for not participating in the Arab Music Festival 2026. He confirmed that his stance is not related to fees. He said he refused to announce his participation before completing and amending the contract, especially regarding a clause that holds legal responsibility for performing traditional songs whose rights he does not own. He clarified that the decision not to participate was out of respect for the principles and ethics of the profession, emphasizing that art should be presented in a way that befits its audience and country, away from discussions about figures and budgets. He affirmed that the value of an artist goes beyond fees, and that Egypt is greater than to be reduced to the budget of concerts or financial figures. He stressed his respect for art and artistic figures.
