Hilary Swank on Criticism of Late Parenthood
Hilary Swank highlighted the criticisms women face when choosing to have children at an advanced age. She emphasized the inequality in society's reactions toward older mothers and fathers. She pointed out that women are blamed more often, even though men have children at the same age without facing the same criticisms, reflecting society's unequal view of motherhood and fatherhood. Swank confirmed that her personal experience of losing her father at a young age has strengthened her appreciation for the parent-child relationship, despite the concerns and criticism associated with late-in-life parenting. She announced that she is pregnant with her third child, expecting to give birth in December. This news comes after a period of professional stability, during which she stressed that motherhood later in life allows her to spend more quality time with her children.
