Court reduces sentence in Nida kidnapping case

The Cairo Criminal Court of Appeal has ruled to reduce the sentence of the kidnapper of young Nada from life imprisonment to 10 years. She had kidnapped Nada 12 years ago, forged official documents for her, and exploited her for begging, claiming she was an orphan. Investigations confirmed that the defendant, a cleaning worker, tried to hide the child's identity and keep her away from her real family, who were eventually found after years of searching. The child was reunited with her relatives. The court mandated the defendant to serve the new sentence after it was proven that she exploited the child for begging and committed forgery.
