Red Sea-supported films vie for 2027 Oscars
The Red Sea International Film Festival achieved a historic presence at the 2027 Oscars, with 12 films supported by the organization being nominated to compete in the 99th Academy Awards. The nominations included entries from 12 countries, among them Saudi Arabia and India, with the film "A Matter of Life and Death" representing Saudi Arabia. The list also features films from Egypt, India, and other productions from Asia, Africa, and the Arab world. Additionally, the film "Angel" secured direct qualification following its win at the Toronto International Film Festival. This achievement reflects the organization's role in supporting films from development stages to global recognition. It builds on previous successes of supported films, with the shortlist to be announced on December 15 and the final ceremony set to take place in Los Angeles on March 14, 2027.
