Uber Technologies has announced an acquisition of the German company Delivery Hero for approximately $14.8 billion, with the aim of establishing the largest food and service delivery platform outside of China and expanding its services to 99 countries instead of 50. The platform currently boasts around 60 million active monthly users. The deal represents a 34% premium over Delivery Hero's average stock price over the past three months.
