Dubai invests over 10 billion dirhams in energy projects
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) announced that it has invested more than 10 billion dirhams in electricity transmission network projects, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and meeting the increasing demand for electricity. During the first half of 2026, the authority inaugurated eight main transmission stations with a transformation capacity of up to 1,200 megavolt-amperes at a cost of 970 million dirhams, in addition to a new station with a capacity of 2,000 megavolt-amperes costing 630 million dirhams, located within the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Park. The authority plans to issue tenders for the construction of more than 30 new transmission stations over the next three years, along with the addition of 340 kilometers of underground cables, in line with Dubai’s economic and social objectives. The total number of transmission stations operated by DEWA reaches 402, including 28 stations at 400 kilovolts and 374 stations at 132 kilovolts, with expansion works that include connecting the new stations via 64 kilometers of cables.
