Ford has announced a recall of over 565,000 vehicles, including Bronco and Bronco Raptor models from 2021 to 2026 in the United States. The recall is due to a potential wiring harness defect inside the engine compartment that could cause an electrical short and possibly a fire. It is noted that movement and friction of the wires against nearby components, along with inadequate corrosion protection, may lead to exposure of the internal circuits, increasing the risk of sparks and heat that could ignite combustible materials. To date, no accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue. However, 15 incidents are believed to have involved fires starting in these vehicles, including 7 in the Raptor and 8 in standard models. Ford will provide a protective cover and corrosion-resistant tape around the wires free of charge. Notification letters will begin mailing on August 24, and owners can check their vehicle's status using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). This recall follows an investigation conducted by the company in June, during which it confirmed that differences in suspension system design and wire movement make Raptor vehicles more susceptible to these problems.
