Saudi industrial output drops 16.3% in June

The preliminary results issued by the General Authority for Statistics showed a decrease of 16.3% in the Index of Industrial Production Quantities in Saudi Arabia during June 2026 compared to the same month of the previous year, due to a decline in mining, quarrying, and manufacturing activities. Nevertheless, the index rose by 4.3% on a monthly basis. Notably, the mining activity index decreased by 27% annually, while the petroleum and chemical manufacturing sectors recorded declines of 6% and 2.6%, respectively. The electricity, gas, and water activities experienced increases of 2.8% and 6.0%. At the level of economic activities, oil-related activities declined by 23.2% year-on-year, while non-oil activities increased slightly by 0.1%. Despite this annual decline, the data indicated a monthly increase in oil production by 4.6% and in non-oil activities by 3.7% compared to May 2026.
