Akua Begins $400M Indonesia Desalination

Aqua Saudi Arabia, a leading company in water desalination and energy conversion, has signed a joint development agreement with Indonesian company PT Garam to launch Indonesia's first integrated seawater desalination and industrial salt production facility on a large scale. The facility is expected to produce approximately 62,500 cubic meters of desalinated water daily and 500,000 tons of high-purity industrial salt annually, with an estimated value of $400 million. The project, located in Gresik, East Java, aims to meet the growing demand for industrial salt, which currently exceeds 4 million tons per year, with projections indicating that demand will surpass 7.7 million tons by 2028.
