UAE sees 265 shooting stars during Perseids

The UAE Meteor Observation Network tracked 265 meteors entering the atmosphere during the Perseid meteor shower in the skies of the UAE on August 12 and 13. Of these, 198 were part of the meteor shower. Over 800 meteors were captured across several stations, along with their orbital elements indicating their paths around the Sun before colliding with Earth. The observation recorded the brightest meteor at magnitude -8.5. Additionally, 14 fireballs classified as Perseids were recorded, exceeding the brightness of Jupiter. The number of unclassified meteors above the magnitude threshold was zero, totaling 74 meteors. The study aims to improve understanding of the cosmic dust elements responsible for producing meteor showers.
