Aramco and Ma'aden explore copper in Saudi

Saudi Aramco and the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for mineral exploration, with a focus on copper and essential metals for energy transition. Ma’aden will own 51% of the company, while Aramco will hold 49%. Artificial intelligence and geological data will be used to accelerate discovery processes and reduce costs. The exploration activities will cover an area of approximately 182,000 square kilometers within the transitional zone of the Arab Shield. It is estimated that the global copper market will exceed $400 billion by 2035, backed by over 90 years of geological data to be utilized in the project. Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen the mining sector as a third industrial pillar, with mineral wealth valued at two and a half trillion dollars.
