American Airlines targets high-spenders

American Airlines intends to boost its profits by focusing on premium travelers. The airline will add more premium seats and retrofit the entertainment screens at the back of the seats on its single-aisle aircraft. The proportion of premium seats is expected to increase to around 40% of total seats in the coming years, up from 25% currently, with more first-class and extra-legroom seats. Starting in 2028, the airline plans to upgrade more than 800 aircraft with screens mounted at the back of the seats. It will also increasingly rely on high-speed Wi-Fi technology to provide a more connected and personalized travel experience.
