France energy prices hit 19-month high

Energy prices in France have risen to their highest level since January 2025, due to ongoing electricity outages linked to fires and the postponement of two nuclear reactors' operations, with the shutdown of the "Gulfash 1" and "Caton 4" reactors extended until mid-September. Additionally, Electricité de France has halted operations at the Chinon nuclear plant amid concerns about the lifespan of the nuclear fleet, which supplies more than half of the country's electricity.
