Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has developed a unified digital design for 132-kilovolt substations aimed at improving power transmission efficiency and accelerating project implementation. The new design shortens the planning and construction process by more than two months, reduces the station's cost by around 5 million AED, and eliminates approximately 8,000 electronic components and 140 kilometers of copper wiring per station. It also decreases the building footprint by 220 square meters and reduces carbon emissions by approximately 447.24 tons annually. The design received a six-star rating in an international competition for best practices. This initiative is part of the Authority's direction to digitalize electrical transmission networks, enhance infrastructure efficiency, and support Dubai's goals of achieving carbon neutrality.
