Egypt starts unloading stuck gas shipment

The cargo will be transferred to the Ain Sokhna area via a gas carrier as part of a plan to enhance Egypt's gas reserves and secure the needs of the local market. This step comes amid efforts by Egypt to expand liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports starting from 2024, with the aim of storing reserve quantities sufficient for more than 120 days to ensure stable gas supplies, especially to meet the rising demand for electricity and industrial sectors. Egypt has two natural gas liquefaction centers—one in Damietta and another in Edco—to accommodate production and serve both the local market and export needs.
