Saudi Water President on Localized Manufacturing Savings

A program to localize the water industry has been implemented in Saudi Arabia, aiming to achieve cost savings of up to 20% compared to importing products, as well as reducing delivery times by 50-70% and decreasing reliance on external supply chains. The program includes localizing 18 key components, which constitute about 90% of the water sector, with investments of 2.8 billion Riyals to establish seven new factories starting next year to meet the forecasted local demand exceeding 15 billion Riyals by 2033. Currently, many components are being produced domestically, with the local content increasing to over 68%. Localization contributes to strengthening manufacturing capabilities, technology transfer, and supply chain development, thereby promoting Saudi Arabia’s transition into a regional hub for water technologies.
