EU Support for Egyptian Agriculture

Alexandria Bank, in collaboration with the Italian Deposit and Loans Fund (CDP), has signed a guarantee agreement worth 21 million euros under the TERRA program to support financing for small farmers in Egypt. These guarantees provide coverage of up to 70% of new financing portfolios, totaling up to 30 million euros, with the aim of enhancing small farmers' access to funding and improving the resilience of agricultural value chains. This initiative is part of coordination with the Global Gateway strategy and the Mati Plan for Africa, and seeks to promote food security and sustainable rural development, supported by the European Union, while creating employment opportunities and fostering financial inclusion in the agricultural sector.
