Tawal and Rakuten Symphony Launch Saudi Multi-Operator Shared Network

Tawal, in partnership with Rakuten Symphony, has launched the first shared multi-operator internal network based on Cloud RAN technology in the Kingdom, at King Abdullah Science and Technology University (KAUST) in Jeddah. The project aims to enhance the efficiency of the local digital infrastructure by providing a unified platform that allows telecommunications operators to offer their services more efficiently and flexibly, while supporting future standalone 5G networks. The connection process with the core network has been completed, and the first voice call has been made using 5G NR and VoLTE technologies, confirming the system's readiness to support multi-operator services within the facilities. This marks an important step in developing the digital infrastructure in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
