The largest carbon dioxide capture and storage facility in Europe has been inaugurated in the Netherlands, aimed at reducing emissions from heavy industries such as ammonia and fertilizer production. The facility will capture up to 800,000 tons of CO₂ annually, transport it by sea to Norway, where it will be permanently stored at a depth of approximately 2.6 kilometers beneath the seabed.
