Saudi Arabia to begin smartphone production in December

Saudi Arabia is preparing to start manufacturing and exporting Motorola phones through Lenovo's factory in Riyadh beginning next December. The factory is the largest outside of China for Lenovo and features four production lines for laptops, desktops, smartphones, and servers, with an initial capacity of up to 2 million units annually, potentially reaching 8 million units later on. The project aims to boost local tech manufacturing, create more than 1,500 jobs for Saudis, allocate 30% of the production for the domestic market and 70% for export. It focuses on producing devices tailored to market and corporate specifications, in addition to supporting national content and strengthening digital sovereignty by manufacturing servers within Saudi Arabia.
