Riyadh Calls for AI Cooperation

Ministers and representatives from more than 60 countries participated in a meeting in Riyadh as part of UNESCO's Global Forum on AI Ethics. They emphasized the importance of international cooperation to ensure the development and deployment of artificial intelligence in an ethical and safe manner that promotes human well-being and sustainable development. Attendees praised UNESCO’s role in AI governance, assessing countries’ readiness and ethical impacts, while stressing the need to support national strategies that respect cultural diversity and reduce gaps in access to advanced technologies. Countries were called upon to strengthen multilateral cooperation, share knowledge, and uphold human rights by building infrastructure and enhancing the skills of institutions and communities to face AI challenges and ensure its responsible dissemination.
