Edge and Hanwa to develop air defense system

The Edge Group of the United Arab Emirates and Hanwha of South Korea intend to expand their collaboration to develop an integrated air defense system for the UAE, including long-range (L-SAM) and medium-range (M-SAM) land-based missile systems, as well as multiple Chunmoo launchers. The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding that encompasses the development of defense and industrial capabilities and the enhancement of local production, with the aim of strengthening the UAE’s air defense capabilities and developing the national defense industry. The agreement focuses on establishing a long-term partnership that includes technology transfer and localization, in line with government approvals, to support defense sovereignty and achieve industrial sustainability.
