In the framework of developing air traffic between the Gulf and Europe, Syria has adopted a new air route, the L602 corridor, which passes through its eastern region near Deir ez-Zor after completing the necessary technical studies and simulations to ensure its efficiency and safety. From the start of operations until September 18, the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation recorded 2,188 overflight movements, reflecting the recovery of Syrian airspace and its increased capacity to accommodate international traffic. Additionally, the air navigation system at Damascus Airport has been upgraded to operate with high efficiency, with the ILS/DME system classified as CAT II, improving landing operations in low-visibility conditions. These measures aim to strengthen Syria's air connectivity network and turn its geographic position into a strategic advantage. The government is actively supporting gradual efforts to rebuild the aviation sector in line with international standards, as part of broader initiatives to boost the national economy and facilitate regional and international air travel.
