Emirates Aluminum trials new tech to boost output

UAE Global Aluminium Company has launched a technology upgrade program for the Longa smelter aimed at increasing productivity and efficiency. The upgrades include testing the "E40" technology on 13 smelting cells, with an anticipated annual production increase of 67,000 tons of aluminum, as well as reductions in energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 6% when implemented across all 808 smelting cells. This initiative comes in the wake of significant damage the smelter sustained due to attacks targeting Abu Dhabi's Khalifa City Economic Zone. Through accelerating its commercial program, the company aims to improve operational performance and reduce environmental impact, relying on advanced technologies including the tenth-generation "EX" technology in preparation for future expansions. These efforts are designed to enhance competitiveness, boost production, and promote environmentally friendly practices.
