Energy Minister Plans Oil Pipeline Expansion

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman announced a plan to increase the Kingdom's oil pipeline capacity to 10 million barrels per day over the next three years. This will be achieved through improving pump efficiency and expanding the East–West pipeline, which transports crude from the east to the Port of Yanbu. The goal is to enhance the country's ability to diversify oil transit routes and boost investments in the sector. The plan also includes configuring the gas pipeline for dual use (oil and gas), enabling it to transport 1.2 million barrels per day within 7 to 8 weeks, with the line being reallocated for gas use in next May to meet domestic summer consumption needs. Saudi Arabia is also aiming to attract broader international participation in the expansion projects to strengthen the pipeline's security by increasing the number of owners, operators, and financiers, with an ultimate goal of localization to ensure greater protection.
