Egypt explores 18,000 km in Eastern Mediterranean

Egypt has launched an offshore seismic survey project in the Eastern Mediterranean covering an area of 18,000 square kilometers. The project utilizes OBN technology, which involves placing sensors on the seabed to improve imaging of geological structures and analyze the likelihood of hydrocarbon resources, thereby helping to reduce drilling risks. Through a partnership between EGAS and the companies SLB and Virdian, the project targets a total coverage of up to 95,000 square kilometers, with operations starting in the Dens and Ras El Bar areas and continuing until the end of 2026. Preparations are also underway to expand activities in 2027.
